Time for the Average Position Metric to be Twilighted on Google Ads
Google made the announcement back in February that they were tossing out the average position metric within Google Ads reporting. Hearing this news, anyone would panic. Tons of questions would arise such as "How am I going to track where my ads are showing up?" Worry no longer. Google also has plans to replace this metric with impression absolute top % and impression top% at the end of the month. Here is how these are measured:
Google hopes that these two new metrics will provide Google Ads users with a clearer picture of where their ads are showing. You can read more about this update and two other new metrics here.

Facebook Developing New Messaging App: Threads
It seems that Facebook is always looking to change things up. This time, they are releasing another new messaging app reportedly called "Threads". Some are saying that the way this app functions is a direct jab at Snapchat. This app is different in the sense that it will share more information (such as location, speed, and battery life) with your closest friends. Facebook and Instagram have not announced a release date as the app is currently in a testing phase. The app is supposed to be paired with Instagram and still has all the normal features of a messaging app such as photos and text.
Facebook is also still planning to combine WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram messaging services to send messages without switching apps. You can read more about this Facebook and Instagram Threads messaging app here.

Starbucks Deconstructed Its Brand for you to see
One cool thing that Starbucks did recently is that they deconstructed their brand for the public to see. The benefit to professional digital marketers and small businesses just looking to get into their first branding overhaul, is that they can see the general process of branding through Starbuck's website. Branding is absolutely essential to differentiating your business and getting more customers. Starbucks decided to release this information in a microsite for the public to view because other brands have been doing it and customers enjoy seeing the creative process that their favorite brands are going through. It also serves their franchise members and partners to know if what they are producing is on brand or not.
If you're new to branding, check out their microsite here so you can get into the right mindset before launching your business online.

General Digital Marketing Tips That You Can Apply Right Now

Digital marketing can take up so much of your time - plus it is always evolving. It can be frustrating to put so much effort into learning a new strategy and not have it pay off. So, here are some general digital marketing tips given by experts that you can put into place right now:
1. Do not focus on content length, focus on relevance. No matter what you are writing, make sure it is pertinent to your customers.
2. Be authentic. This means that you need to produce content that reflects who you truly are and gets down to the WHY of your business. It should make people FEEL something. Humans are also always craving connection, so you being true to yourself and showing genuine interest in others is always a great move.
3. Listen to your customer. If they are asking questions, having difficulties, whatever the case may be, this is an opportunity for content creation. Don't focus all of your energy on coming up with content yourself. Instead, just listen to what's already happening.
4. Check your data please. If you are not looking at the numbers behind your digital marketing, you may be shooting yourself in the foot. Sometimes a post will get way more results and if you're ignoring the data, you could be missing out on key customers.
5. Focus down your message. It can be easy to try and communicate everything at once. Resist that urge! Simplify it down and it will be better received.
